Features of Stable Build

  • Chest loot is fully randomized.

  • This release completes the FF hexalogy of the Whirlwind family of mods.

Patching Instructions

  • Recommended for use with the fan translation by J2e.

  • Base rom is FF4j, not FF2us. The first revision should be used.

  • IMPORTANT! If you run into issues patching, try shortening the filename of the patch and/or of the patched rom.

  • The Japanese version should also be compatible with this mod. Report any issues, and we’ll support the Japanese version albeit at a lower priority than the English version.

Preview of Dev Build

  • Designed based on the open-world mode of the cousin hack, FFV: Whirlwind.

  • You now start with the Enterprise and the Lunar Whale.

  • An Emergency Exit has been added as a starting item, and it can be used anywhere. A wrong warp when using it when you gain control of Cecil has been fixed.

  • Movement speed has been doubled in overworlds, towns, and dungeons.

  • Random encounters have been disabled unless you walk around while holding the B button.

  • You can now save in towns and dungeons.

  • Experience is boosted to 16x.

  • Gil is boosted to 16x.

  • Support for seeding is being investigated, one issue being that there's no way to rename characters.

  • Update: Cecil can now be renamed.

  • Support for set (manual) seeding has been added. Auto (random) seeding not yet supported.

  • Chest rando can now be toggled via a config setting.

  • The opening cutscene is now shortened. The intro battles are now skipped.

  • Event dialog is now skipped. Event pauses are also skipped.

  • The Underworld is now accessible from the beginning.

  • The cutscene of the crashing airship is now skipped. The Enterprise is also pre-upgraded to fly over lava.

  • The Hovercraft and Hook upgrade are given at start.

  • Mt. Ordeals can now be entered without Palom or Porom.

  • The Tellah recruitment event is skipped to avoid softlock potential later in the game.

  • A secret warp to Zeromus has been added.

  • Dev builds available on Discord.
