Description

FireRed/LeafGreen Ultra

Based on the pokefirered disassembly with Emerald Expansion Updates by cawtds.

Features as of v1.1 FINAL:

  • Kadabra learns Shock Wave at lvl 18 and Alakazam learns Thunderbolt at lvl 38.

  • RTC re-enabled. Be sure to set mGBA to detect RTC by going to Tools > Game overrides and make sure only the box with real-time clock is checked. in Tools > Game pak sensors make sure system time is selected. You may have to do this every time you play due to the emulator not saving that particular setting.

  • Linking Cord sold at Celadon City Dept. Store 2nd Floor for 1500 Pokedollars

  • Removed Escape Rope from all Marts to prevent crash (Thanks DemiGamerX)

  • Dexnav has been disabled.

  • Reusable TMs

  • Forgettable HMs Without a Move Tutor.

  • Startup Money Startup money has been changed from 3,000 to 35,000 Pokedollars.

  • HGSS Pokedex Plus Backported from HeartGold SoulSilver, you get to enjoy the features of Pokedex Plus.

  • Follower Pokemon Any Pokemon in the first party slot will follow you through the overworld.

  • Trade Evolutions All Trade Evolutions can evolve by using either a Linking Cable or their specific evolution items like Metal Coat or King's Rock, but can also evolve by trading between FR and LG out of the box.

  • Debug Menu By pressing R+Start you can open a special debug menu made by a few people. See here and it includes features like giving you items, pokemon, and other changes to the game.

  • Double Battles All double battles no longer require you to have two pokemon in your party and 25% of the time wild battles will be double. This also means that you can battle two trainers at once.

  • Gen 5 Map Area Popups All Map Area Popups are switched to Gen 5 and include a 12hr clock displayed at the bottom.

  • Gen 6 Exp. Share From the beginning, you can add the Exp. Share from the Debug menu to share Experience points with your party. You can also set Flag 0x04A7 to True to enable this feature.

  • Running Indoors This makes traversing all of Kanto much easier and faster, great for speed runs.

  • Fast-Run During wild battles you can hold B to run.

  • Known Issues The game is known to crash here and there during battle, this is most likely due to the codebase being under development still. It's based on Emerald Expansion. Save often. Thanks/Credits

  • Thanks to cawtds for bringing Emerald Expansion to FireRed.

  • Thanks to RH-Hideout for their pokeemerald expansion code base.

Ah, I wouldn't know about that. I know there's a process to do it but I'm not knowledgeable enough.

What configuration settings are recommended for converting this into a 3DS VC Game?

I don't know if this is noticed or not but there's a bug in the romhack where if you try to purchase the escape rope for $0 it completely crashes the romhack and hard locks the emulator up. The emulator in question I'm playing on is Myboy for the android device. I'm just giving a heads-up for anyone who didn't encounter this issue before me.

The Escape Rope is a key item that doesn't stack and you can't sell it. I'll fix the marts in the next update though, thanks for finding that. The code base has seen some improvement since this release.

They've fixed the code so that it doesn't multiply slots or stack when you find one around the world. When I released Firered Expansion was crashing a lot during battles and whatnot. The battle crashes have since resolved. My next updates will give access to all 382 pokemon in gen 3 for both Emerald Ultra and this hack.

As far as I know as of 1.1 you should only be able to find Escape Ropes throughout the overworld. As I said though, they don't stack so finding multiples hasn't caused issues for me either in crashing or messing up anything in the Key Items pocket. I'm using mGBA but I've heard myboy for android is comparable.
